SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the second consecutive week, North Dakota State, South Dakota and South Dakota State were represented in the Summit League TicketSmarter Outdoor Track and Field Peak Performer of the Week honors, League officials released Tuesday.
South Dakota State’s Pierre Lear and North Dakota State’s Trevor Otterdahl went back-to-back earning the weekly honors for the men while South Dakota’s Erin Kinney and Meredith Clark claimed the awards for the women.
At the USD Early Bird, Lear bested his own 110-meter hurdles record from the week prior after clocking a time of 13.76 in the prelims. He went on to cross the finish line in the exact same time to take first overall in the event. His record-breaking time ranks him at No. 23 nationally in the event.
Otterdahl won the shot put and the discus as well as was the top collegian finisher in the hammer throw, second overall, at the USD Early Bird. He won the shot put with a mark of 61-00.75 (18.61m) and the discus with a toss of 179-2 (54.61m). His runner-up finish in the hammer came from a toss of 224-5 (68.41m).
Kinney took first in the 100m at the USD Early Bird after clocking a wind-aided 10.98. Her winning time is half a second faster than her wind-legal personal best and would have moved her to second in the nation if the time were wind-legal.
She also ran a leg of the winning 4x100m relay squad that broke the facility record in a time of 45.44.
Fellow Coyote Clark won the shot put with a personal-best mark of 50-4 (15.34m). Her winning toss puts her atop the League in the event. She also took third in the hammer throw with a launch of 178-1 (54.27m) and fourth in the discus with a mark of 158.7 (48.34m).
