SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Oral Roberts outfielder Jonah Cox and South Dakota State righthander Jake Goble received the latest TicketSmarter Summit League baseball weekly honors, League officials announced Monday. Cox extended his hitting streak to 24 games in a series win against North Dakota State to earn Peak Performer of the Week honors, while Goble earned his second Peak Pitcher of the Week honor of the season, following the longest outing by a Jackrabbit this season.
Cox went 7-for-14 (.500) to go along with three home runs and four RBI in two wins against the Bison. The Thornton, Colo., native recorded his first career multi-home run performance in Friday’s 10-0 seven-inning run rule victory. In game two, Cox swiped his Summit League-leading 20
th base of the year and notched a single.
In game three, Cox finished a double shy of the cycle in an 8-4, 13-inning rubber match victory. He has now recorded a hit in 39 of the 40 contests this season and leads all of Division I with 73 total hits.
Goble pitched a season-high seven innings, holding the Tommies scoreless in the second game of a doubleheader that SDSU won 7-0. The Rapid City, S.D., native allowed just three singles, struck out five and did not walk a batter. He retired 14 batters in a row in one stretch, improving to 4-1 on the season with the combined-shutout.
