SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver’s Nicolas Herrero Cuesta and North Dakota’s Andrea Jansson received the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Peak Performers of the Week honors, League officials announced on Tuesday.
Herrero Cuesta posted Denver’s first double bagel of the season to help the Pioneers earn a crucial 4-3 win over the defending tournament champion, Drake. The Segovia, Spain native topped the Bulldogs’ Jeremy Schifris, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 1 spot in singles play for his sixth-straight win and 13
th overall win of the season.
Jansson went a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles action to help the Fighting Hawks pick up wins over Western Illinois and St. Thomas. The Gothenburg, Sweden native clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win over the Leathernecks at the No. 1 spot and followed that up with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the No. 3 singles spot.
Against the Tommies, Jansson helped capture the doubles point with a 6-2 win from the top court and claimed a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at the No. 3 position in singles play. Jansson is a perfect 5-0 in singles play during League action and UND moves to 5-0 in League play for the best record in program history.
