FARGO, N.D. – Despite a slight delay due to thunderstorms, a handful of broken records and defended titles were achieved during the second day of the 2023 Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships inside Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex.

Top Performers
After completing the final three events in the heptathlon, NDSU’s Nell Graham held a 104-point advantage over the rest of the field to take home her first League crown in the event. Her winning score ranks sixth overall in NDSU history. En route to her gold medal, Graham secured top marks in the high jump (5-04.25; 1.63m), 200m (23.97), javelin (125-05; 38.24) and 800m (2:24.23).
With the final five events scored in the decathlon, St. Thomas’ Nate Raddatz defends his title and took home his second-consecutive League decathlon gold medal. He won the event with a total score of 7,157 points, 302 points better than his score at last year’s championship. En route to his placement on the top spot of the podium, Raddatz finished within the top three in eight of the 10 events.
The Bison swept the top four spots in the men’s shot put with Trevor Otterdahl paving the way. He claimed his second event crown of the championship with a career-best toss of 63-00.75 (19.22m). Cam Landis (59-04.75; 18.10m), Levi Rockey (57-04.75; 17.49m) and Clayton Hannula (56-10.25; 17.33m) followed Otterdahl’s lead.
Western Illinois’ Toriano Tate, the 2023 Indoor League long jump champion, continued his long jump dominance from the indoor season. He earned his first outdoor League gold medal in the long jump with a mark of 24-07.25 (7.50m).
NDSU’s Grace Emineth did the same for the women’s long jump. The women’s League indoor long jump champion added the outdoor event title to her resume as well after leaping a winning mark of 20-02.5 (6.16m).
Defending men’s 3,000m steeplechase champion Luke Labatte of North Dakota claimed his second consecutive League gold medal in the event. He stood atop the podium after crossing the finish line in a meet-record time of 8:49.89.
South Dakota’s Danii Anglin went back-to-back on outdoor high jump titles after she cleared a meet-record height of 6-01.25 (1.86m).
Fellow Coyote Helen Gould closed out the second day of the championship with her second straight 3,000m steeplechase title. She calmed the gold in a time of 10:45.30.
Notable Track Prelims
South Dakota’s Erin Kinney advanced to tomorrow’s final in the 100m with a meet-record time of 11.41.
The men’s League indoor 800m champion, Jacob Rodin of North Dakota State, advanced to tomorrow’s finals of the 800m with the top prelim time of 1:50.71.
Reigning back-to-back men’s 400m hurdle champion Reid Pierzinski of South Dakota State clocked the top time of the prelims to advance to tomorrow’s finals. He crossed the line in 52.54.
South Dakota’s Jacy Pulse will return tomorrow to defend her crown in the 400m hurdles. She clocked the top time in the prelims crossing the line in a meet-record time of 58.46.
