SDSU's Parry, UNC's Smith garner first TicketSmarter #SummitBSB weekly awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State first baseman Dawson Parry and Northern Colorado righthander Dylan Smith earned the first TicketSmarter Summit League Baseball Peak Player and Pitcher of the Week awards, League officials announced Monday.

Parry batted .583 (7-for-12) and recorded multiple-hits, while scoring and driving in at least one run in the first three games of South Dakota State's series at New Mexico State.

In game one, he went 2-for-3 and hit a two-run home run in the third inning that put the Jackrabbits ahead 4-0. Parry equaled his career-high three hits in game two, which included an RBI-single in the sixth. It marked the 10th time in his SDSU career that he recorded three hits in a game.

In game three vs. the Aggies, Parry delivered the second multi-homer game of his career and drove in five runs as the Jackrabbits rallied for an 8-5 victory. The Highland, Utah native put SDSU up 1-0 with a solo shot in the first, then put them ahead for good with his third career grand slam, which came with two outs in the ninth.

Smith allowed just an infield single in the fourth inning, while holding Louisiana Tech scoreless through 6.2 innings in the first start of his sophomore season. The Bakersfield, Calif., native struck out three and walked two in the third scoreless start of his career.

Smith retired the first two batters he faced in the bottom of the seventh, earning a no decision in a game he left with the Bears' leading 2-0.
