Denver’s Herrero Custa, Driscoll sweep TicketSmarter #SummitTEN weekly honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.Denver’s Nicolas Herrero Cuesta and Caroline Driscoll swept the TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Peak Performers of the Week accolades, league officials announced on Tuesday.
 
Herrero Cuesta moved to 8-0 on the season in singles and doubles combined with four more wins last week. For the second match in a row, the Segovia, Spain native scored a bagel set at No. 1 singles, doing so in his match against Utah on his way to a straight-sets win. In doubles action, he and partner Rikuto Yamaugchi recorded a 6-1 triumph at the No. 2 position.
 
Against UTSA, Herrero Cuesta moved to 4-0 on the season at No. 1 singles with his third two-set win in a row and dropping just five games in total. Herrero Cuesta and Yamaguchi clinched the doubles point after breaking late on the second court for a 7-5 win.
 
The senior dropped just five games against UTSA at No. 1 singles as well, 6-3, 6-2. In doubles, he started with his best performance so far, a 6-1 win over Utah at No. 2 doubles with his partner Rikuto Yamaugchi. On Sunday against UTSA, the doubles point came down to his match with the senior helping clinch it with a late break for a 7-5 win.
 
Driscoll won all four of her matches against Power-5 opponents and had the clinching singles points in DU's 4-2 win over Kansas State and 4-1 win over Iowa. The Brookline, Mass., native received wins in doubles to clinch the doubles point in both matches with her partner Louise Wikander, with a 6-3 win against the Hawkeyes and a 7-5 win against the Wildcats.
 
In both of her singles matches, she won the first set with a bagel and ultimately clinched the wins in three sets.
