SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver junior Daniel Sancho Arbizu and South Dakota freshman Amanda de Oliveira received the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Peak Performers of the Week honors, league officials announced on Tuesday.
Sancho Arbizu helped the Pioneers win their 14
th straight match and start the season undefeated by winning both of his matches in Denver's 5-2 win at Air Force. The Zaragoza, Spain native started with his seventh consecutive doubles win with partner Marvin Schaber (6-3) at the No. 2 spot.
He would return to the win column with a straight set singles win (6-3, 7-5) at the No. 3 spot for his 12
th singles win of the season and eighth in two sets.
de Oliveria went 6-0 in three sweeps (3-0 singles, 3-0 doubles) against MSU Moorhead, Morgan State and Marist. The Caxias de Sul, Brazil native teamed with fellow freshman Sorcha Caves to go 3-0 in doubles, two of the wins were 6-0 shutouts.
The freshman won her three singles matches in straight sets (6-1, 6-0; 6-0, 6-4; 6-4, 6-2) dropping just 11 games in six sets.
