SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver‘s Daniel Sancho Arbizu and Britt Pursell swept the season’s final TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Peak Performers of the Week accolades, league officials announced on Tuesday.
Sancho Arbizu won three of his four matches on the weekend, the fourth being an abandoned doubles match that he was leading 5-4 on Saturday. In singles, he lost just five games combined in his two No. 2 singles matches, earning a bagel set in each.
Against Illinois State, the junior only lost one game. Furthermore, at No. 2 doubles on both days, he started the weekend with a 6-2 win against Oral Roberts in what was the doubles point-clinching victory for DU.
Pursell notched two wins (No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles) to help Denver win its 10th-straight Summit League regular-season title Both of her matches clinched the dual for Denver, first with a 6-3 win in doubles to clinch the doubles point and then her 6-3 6-1 win in singles being the point that clinched the dual overall.
