NDSU's Knight, UNO's Bishop claim TicketSmarter #SummitBSB weekly awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State righthander Logan Knight and Omaha third baseman Tyler Bishop claimed the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Baseball Peak Pitcher and Performer of the Week awards, League officials announced Monday.

Knight struck out a career-high 10 and allowed only one earned run over seven innings in NDSU's 3-2 victory over Northern Colorado in game two of a series the Bison would win by claiming the final two contests. NDSU now sits in second place in the League standings with a 7-5 record.

The London, Ontario native scattered six hits as he equaled his longest outing of the season and picked up his third consecutive win in League play. Knight struck out multiple Bears in each of the first three innings and closed his outing with two more in the seventh when he retired the side in order to preserve a 2-1 lead for the Bison.

Bishop batted .474 in four tilts last week with two home runs and eight RBI. He went 7-for-14 at the plate in Omaha's series win over South Dakota State, which was the Mavericks' third straight.

The Lincoln, Neb., native opened the week with a multi-hit effort against Creighton. After registering a single and an RBI in a game-one loss to the Jackrabbits, Bishop hit for the cycle in a 6-for-6 effort at the plate as the Mavericks won a game-two slugfest 21-15.

The JUCO-transfer added a pair of home runs, scored an Omaha single-game record six runs and drove in a career-high seven. The six hits, six runs and seven RBI are the most by a Summit League player in a game this season.

Bishop scored his eighth run of the week in a 10-9 victory in the series-clinching win for Omaha, who improved to 8-7 in League play.
