DU’s Herrero Cuesta, USD’s Havlickova earn TicketSmarter #SummitTEN weekly accolades

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.Denver senior Nicolas Herrero Cuesta and South Dakota junior Bea Havlickova collected the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Peak Performers of the Week awards, league officials announced on Tuesday.
 
Herrero Cuesta went undefeated at No. 1 singles and doubles in two league road matches. In both the dual at Drake (5-2) and at Omaha (6-1), he clinched the doubles point and did so with different partners on each day. He then lost just four games in his singles match against Drake (6-1 6-3) to put Denver within a point of the eventual win against its league rival.
 
The Segovia, Spain native added another straight-sets singles win (7-6 (4), 6-3) at Omaha to give DU its sixth and final point.
 
Havlickova won three singles matches at No. 1 spot to improve her win streak to six. The Louny, Czech Republic native won a pair of league matches in straight sets to move to 3-2 in league play. In a 5-2 triumph over St. Thomas, Havlickova captured a 6-4, 7-6 victory at the top spot. She would go on to record another singles victory in straight sets (7-6, 6-3) against Creighton.
 
The junior teamed with Paige Alter to post a 7-5 win over Oral Roberts to move to 3-1 in league play at No. 1 doubles. Havlickova secured another win at No. 1singles by a 6-4, 6-2 count against the Golden Eagles.
