SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The St. Thomas Tommies have earned a three-peat as honorees of the Summit League Sportsmanship award, garnering the award for the 2023-24 acdaemic year.
The award is given yearly to the school that is judged by its peers to be the best in the League for living up to the ideals of sportsmanship. Areas for evaluation include student-athlete conduct, staff/administrator conduct, coaches’ conduct and event management.
St. Thomas is the first institution to take home three straight sportsmanship honors since 2017-18 when South Dakota claimed its third consecutive award.
Former member Southern Utah continues to own the League record with five Sportsmanship Awards. The Thunderbirds are followed by Centenary, Omaha, St. Thomas and South Dakota with three apiece. Purdue Fort Wayne and South Dakota State each earned a pair of awards while IUPUI, Kansas City and Valparaiso have each earned the honor once.
