SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota, South Dakota, and South Dakota State were represented in the season’s fifth Summit League Indoor Track and Field Kwik Star Peak Performers of the week accolades, League officials released Tuesday. South Dakota State’s Carter Toews and North Dakota’s Ethan Thomas took home the honors on the men’s side while North Dakota’s Jadyn Keeler and Kenna Curry as well as South Dakota’s Anna Willis secured them on the women’s side.
Toews earned the victory in the 200-meter dash at the Jim Emmerich Alumni meet by taking the tape in 21.49. Toews sits second in the Summit League with that victory. Toews also finished second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.76 seconds to sit sixth in the Summit League.
Thomas won the shot put with a toss of 59-6.25” (18.14m). His first-place mark ranks him 46
th in the NCAA this season and first in the Summit league by nearly three feet. His mark shattered the previous school record held by Dave Levos since 1986 of 59-1.5” (18.02). Thomas also finished sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 56-4.75” (17.19) at the Jim Emmerich Alumni Meet.
Keeler won the 3000 meter with a time of 9:17.58 at the Jim Emmerich Alumni meet. Her time ranks her 38
th in the NCAA. She broke Yonca Kutluk’s school record of 9:22.35 by nearly five seconds to take control of first palce in the Summit League standings.
Willis finished first in the pole vault competition with a lifetime-best vault of 14-4.75” (4.39m) at the Mark Colligan Memorial. Her mark puts her 10th in the NCAA this season and second in the Summit League.
Curry finished first in the weight throw with a season best mark of 71-3.25” at the Jim Emmerich Alumni meet. Her mark ranks her ninth in the NCAA this season. Curry finished second in the shot put competition with a toss of 47-11.25”.
