SDSU’s Larson, UND’s Keeler named this weeks Kwik Star #SummitXC Peak Performers

Larson and Keeler ran the fastest times in their respective races of any Summit League athletes

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –South Dakota State’s Cody Larson and North Dakota’s Jadyn Keeler picked up the season’s sixth Kwik Star Summit League Cross Country Peak Performer of the Week honors, league officials announced Tuesday. Both runners had the fastest times amongst Summit League athletes in their respective races and earned a spot in the Summit League record book.

Larson placed 8th in the men’s 8K race with a time of 23:17.9 at the Pre-Nationals meet hosted by Missouri. Larson’s time was the third fastest 8k race in league history. His finish helped the Jakrabbits take 17th place in a field that included 32 teams.

The Jackrabbits defeated multiple Power 4 programs such as Tennessee, Florida State, Illinois, Kansas State, Nebraska, and Iowa.

Keeler placed third at the Arturo Barrios Invitational with a personal record 6K time of 19:08.2. She is the first female athlete to clock a sub-20 minute time in Summit League history. The Barrie, Ontario native smashed the previous conference record of 20:06.8 set by Erin Teschuk at the Stanford invitational in 2015.

Keeler’s finish marked her second-best individual performance at a Power 4 meet and now ranks as the second-best finish in UND program history, trailing only her victory earlier this season at the Roy Griak Invitational.

The UND graduate also helped lead the North Dakota women’s team to a strong seventh-place finish, ahead of Power 4 programs including Oklahoma, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Houston, Baylor, and TCU.
