SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Kansas City and North Dakota State were each represented among the season’s second Summit League Indoor Track and Field Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week accolades, League officials released Tuesday. Kansas City’s Tory Lanham and North Dakota State’s Carter Reckelberg took home the honors on the men’s side while the Bison duo of Kaela Skistad and Adison Kapitzke secured them on the women’s side.
Lanham secured first place in the 400-meter by taking the tape in 47.62 seconds at the Husker Holiday Open. The Kansas City, Mo., native currently sits atop the Summit League rankings and is the league’s only athlete to crack 48 seconds during the indoor season. The Roo junior also sits at No. 1 on the Kansas City all-time list and currently ranks fifth in the NCAA with his 400-meter time.
Reckelberg won the long jump competition in his collegiate debut at the Dakota Alumni Classic with a personal-best leap of 24-6.25” (7.47m). His first-place mark ranks 12th nationally and set a new Dakota Alumni Classic meet record. The Bison freshman ranks first in the League by more than a foot.
Skistad ranks eighth in the NCAA this season in the 400-meter after running a 55.94 at the Dakota Alumni Classic. The Big Lake, Minn., native sits first in the Summit League following an impressive collegiate debut. The Bison freshman also ran a leg of the winning 4x400-meter relay that finished with a time of 3:53.85.
Kapitzke finished first in the shot put with a lifetime-best toss of 51-00.25” (15.55m) at the Dakota Alumni Classic. Her mark ranks her 12
th in the NCAA this season and first in the Summit League. The Brooklyn Park, Minn., native also posted a personal-best in the weight throw, tossing 57-9” (17.60m) to finish fifth.
