SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Drake and Kansas City collected this week’s Kwik Star Summit League Men’s and Women’s Tennis Peak Performer of the Week awards, league officials unveiled Tuesday.
 
For singles action, Drake’s Will Ecklund and Kansas City’s Catherine Chrobak garnered the latest weekly honors. In doubles play, Ecklund and partner Ben Johnson captured their second-straight weekly accolade while the women’s award was scooped up by KC’s pair of Joanna Miralles and Sophie Marshman.
 
MEN’S TENNIS SINGLE PEAK PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Will Ecklund, Drake (Sr)

• Garnered his first career peak performer award for his singles performance
• Competed against Big East foe Creighton
• Defeated the Blue Jay’s Ethan Neil 6-2, 0-6, 6-1 on the No. 6 court

MEN’S TENNIS DOUBLES PEAK TEAM OF THE WEEK
Will Ecklund (Sr) & Ben Johnson (So), Drake

• Ecklund and Johnson each collect their second-consecutive peak performer accolades
• Came out victorious on the top court of doubles action
• Defeated Creighton’s Ethan Neil and Rocky McKenzie 6-3

WOMEN’S TENNIS SINGLES PEAK PERFORMER OF THE WEEK

• Received the second peak performer accolade of her career, first of the season
• Won a pair of singles matches from the No. 2 spot in the lineup in wins over Missouri State (5-2) and Central Arkansas (4-2)
• Defeated Missouri State’s Lucy Latham in three sets (5-7, 6-1, 6-0)
• Captured a win over Central Arkansas’ Nanoka Kazama (6-1, 6-3)

WOMEN’S TENNIS DOUBLES PEAK TEAM OF THE WEEK

• Earned the first career peak performer awards in both of their careers
• Won both their matches en route to securing both doubles points for KC
• Downed Missouri State’s No. 1 team 7-6 (7-5)
• Captured a 6-3 win on the top court against Central Arkansas' No. 1 doubles pair
