SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Northern Colorado left fielder Jake King and Oral Roberts righthander Nathan Love garnered the opening Kwik Star Summit League Baseball weekly honors of the 2025 season, League officials announced Monday.
King earned the Kwik Star Peak Performer nod after batting .438 and delivering a pair of game-winning hits for the Bears during the opening weekend, while Love tossed seven scoreless innings in his ORU debut to collect the Kwik Star Peak Pitcher accolade.
King finished a four-game split at Utah Tech with seven hits, four RBI and two doubles as the Bears went 2-2 against the Trailblazers. The Buckeye, Ariz., native broke a 7-7 tie in game two of the series with a two-run single in the sixth that provided the Bears with the cushion they needed down the stretch.
In the 5-4 Bear’s win in the series finale, his two-run double in the top of the ninth put UNC in the lead and capped off his third multi-hit game of the series.
Love made his first career Division I start in game two of ORU’s series sweep of Arkansas-Pine Bluff as he went seven scoreless innings and struck out six Golden Lions. The Magnolia, Texas native earned the win as the Golden Eagles’ bats provided him with three runs of support.
Love got out of a bases-loaded, two-out jam in the third by striking out the final Golden Eagle of the frame. He scattered four hits and walked two in the 3-0 ORU victory.
