SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Drake, North Dakota and South Dakota each were honored in the latest Kwik Star Summit League Men's and Women's Tennis Peak Performer of the Week awards, league officials released Tuesday.
The Fighting Hawks' Leo Galliano and the Coyotes' Selena Bird captured this week's singles weekly awards. Drake's doubles team of Will Ecklund and Ben Johnson as well as North Dakota's pair of Jules Schulte and Nore Heinitz walked award with the weekly honors on the doubles side.
MEN'S TENNIS SINGLE PEAK PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Leo Galliano, North Dakota (Fr)
- Garnered his second-consecutive peak performer award
- Was a perfect 2-0 in singles action in a pair of matches against Hawaii Pacific (L, 5-2) and Hawaii (L, 4-3)
- In his first collegiate match at the No. 2 position, evened the match at 1-1 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Hawaii Pacific
- Leveled the score 1-1 against Hawaii with a 6-2, 3-2 (inj.) victory on the No. 4 court
- Improved to 5-1 on the season and has won four straight matches

MEN'S TENNIS DOUBLES PEAK TEAM OF THE WEEK
Will Ecklund (Sr) & Ben Johnson (So), Drake
- Ecklund and Johnson each collect their first career peak performer accolades
- On the No. 1 court, won 6-4 over Western Michigan's nationally ranked due (No. 109)
- Also defeated Marquette's No. 1 doubles duo to help capture the doubles point in a 4-3 team victory

WOMEN'S TENNIS SINGLES PEAK PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Selena Bird, South Dakota (Jr)
- Received the first peak performer accolade of her career
- Won both her singles matches at the No. 4 court against Utah State (W, 4-3) and Montana State (L, 6-1)
- Rallied after dropping the first set to capture a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win in the Utah State match
- Earned a straight sets 6-3, 6-4 win over Montana State's No. 4 singles player
- Moved to 4-1 on the dual season

WOMEN'S TENNIS DOUBLES PEAK TEAM OF THE WEEK
Jule Schulte (Jr) & Nore Heinitz (Sr), North Dakota
- Heinitz captured the second career peak performer award of her career
- Schulte collected the first weekly honor of her career
- Went a perfect 2-0 on the No. 2 courts to help North Dakota go 1-1 against Hawaii Pacific (W, 4-3) and Hawaii (L, 7-0)
- Opened doubles play against Hawaii Pacific with a 6-4 win to help UND eventually earn the doubles point in the 4-3 victory
- Grabbed a 6-3 win over Hawaii in doubles action
- Improved to 3-0 as a pairing this season
