SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Northern Colorado righthander Murphy Gienger and St. Thomas outfielder Max Moris collected the latest Kwik Star Summit League Baseball weekly honors, League officials announced Monday.
Gienger matched a Northern Colorado single-game record after striking out a career-high 14 Wolverines in the Bears’ home opener vs. Utah Valley. He tossed 6.1 scoreless innings and scattered three hits before giving way to the UNC bullpen.
He logged five innings with multiple strikeouts, including three in the first and sixth innings. He also had two in the second, fourth and fifth innings.
Moris batted .579 in a four-game series at Austin Peay, going 11-for-19 with four multi-hit efforts. A four-year starter, he opened the series with a four-hit game, which was one shy of his career-high he set the previous weekend in the series finale at Tarleton State.
