SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State righthander Logan Knight and St. Thomas outfielder Ben Vujovich garnered the latest Kwik Star Summit League Baseball weekly honors, League officials announced Monday. Knight earned his second career Peak Pitcher of the Week award, while Vujovich is the third straight Tommie to be named the Peak Performer of the Week.
Knight tossed the first complete game shutout by a Summit League hurler in NDSU’s second game of a Saturday doubleheader at Oral Roberts. The Bison senior scattered three hits and fanned a season-high seven Golden Eagles in the 3-0 victory that clinched a series win for his squad.
Vujovich led a Tommies’ offense that produced 38 runs in a weekend series sweep of Omaha. The Tommie senior hit safely in all three victories, including three-hit efforts in the opener and finale. He drove in a league-best eight RBI over the weekend, scored six runs and stole three bases.
The Inver Grove Heights, Minn., native equaled his career-high with six RBI and delivered his first home run of the season in a 21-11 victory in game one. He added two more RBI and stole two bases in the Tommies’ 13-7 sweep-clinching win on Sunday.
