Drake, Omaha, South Dakota capture this week’s Kwik Star #SummitTEN peak performer awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Drake, Omaha and South Dakota captured this week’s Kwik Star Summit League Men’s and Women’s Tennis Peak Performer of the Week honors, league officials released Tuesday.
 
For their singles performances, Drake’s Ben Johnson and South Dakota’s Grace Chadick claimed the individual weekly accolades.
 
In doubles action, the Drake duo of Adan Tarquino and Aaron Dawson were awarded the weekly award on the men’s side while Omaha’s Nina Wiese and Katelynn Kock claimed the honor for the women.
 
MEN’S TENNIS SINGLE PEAK PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Ben Johnson, Drake (So)
  • Garnered his third career peak performer award, third of the season.
  • Went 2-0 on the week with singles wins on the third court against Austin Peay and Oral Roberts.
  • Won in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) against Austin Peay.
  • Against Oral Roberts, clinched the 4-3 match victory for Drake with a 6-7, 6-4, 6-3 win over Oral Roberts’ Elijah Brewer.
 
MEN’S TENNIS DOUBLES PEAK TEAM OF THE WEEK
Adan Tarquino (Fr) and Aaron Dawson (So), Drake
  • The duo garnered the first peak performer honors of their respective careers.
  • Captured the lone doubles win for Drake against Oral Roberts.
  • Defeated Oral Roberts’ duo of Brewer and Jonathan Evans, 6-2, on the second doubles court.

WOMEN’S TENNIS SINGLES PEAK PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Grace Chadick, South Dakota (Sr)
  • Received the first peak performer accolade of her career.
  • Won her sixth straight match with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Kansas City (W, 6-1) on the No. 5 court.
  • Now owns a 2-0 record in Summit League play.
  • Is 8-2 in the last 10 matches.
  • Now is 11-3 on the dual season and 18-4 overall on the year.

WOMEN’S TENNIS DOUBLES PEAK TEAM OF THE WEEK
Nina Wiese (Fr) & Katelynn Kock (Fr), Omaha
  • Wiese and Kock collected their first career peak performer of the week honors.
  • Went 2-0 last week against Colgate (W, 5-2) and Stony Brook (W, 6-1).
  • On the No. 2 court, helped secure the doubles over Colgate with a 6-1 win.
  • At the No. 3 spot in doubles, claimed a 6-2 victory over Stony Brook.
  • Captured six straight victories as a duo.
