First serve of 2025 #SummitTEN Championships set for Friday

DENVER – The 2025 Summit League Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships are set to unfold Friday and Saturday at Denver Tennis Park in Denver, Colo.
 
Action begins Friday at 9 a.m. MT with the first men’s semifinal match, setting the stage for an exciting weekend of tennis championship competition.
 
Schedules and locations are subject to change in the case of inclement weather.

What to Know
  • The Pioneer men enter the tournament ranked No. 63 in the ITA Computerized Rankings, having climbed steadily over the past two weeks. They seek their seventh championship title in the last 11 years after finishing the regular season with dominant wins over Drake and North Dakota, securing their sixth consecutive Summit League regular-season crown.
  • The Summit League has one singles player ranking among the nation’s top 125 singles players: Denver’s Daniel Sancho Arbizu. Sancho Arbizu boasts a 28-5 record since the fall, including a stellar 19-2 mark in dual matches and an undefeated 5-0 record in league play. He currently holds the No. 45 spot in the ITA singles rankings.
  • North Dakota men are making their fifth consecutive trip to the championships, the Fighting Hawks have secured their highest-ever seeding since joining the Summit League, earning the No. 2 seed.
  • The Mavericks return to the tournament as the No. 3 seed after missing out last season. The last time Omaha held this position, they pulled off a 4-0 sweep of the No. 2 seed to advance to the title match—an achievement they hope to replicate.
  • Illinois State is back for a second straight appearance. The Redbirds come in as the No. 4 seed, aiming to reach the championship final for the first time since joining the league in 2018.
  • The Pioneer women continue their historic dominance, entering the tournament as the defending champions, seeking their 11th Summit League Championship trophy after clinching their 11th straight regular-season title.
  • The Golden Eagles secured the No. 2 seed, marking their second consecutive championship appearance and first time in this position since 2022.
  • The Mavericks are back in the tournament for the first time since 2023, earning their highest seed since 2019 when they were No. 3 and defeated second-seeded North Dakota to reach the title match.
  • The Fighting Hawks return for their third consecutive championship appearance. In 2023, they entered as the No. 3 seed, upsetting second-seeded Kansas City to secure their first-ever trip to the championship final.
