Pioneers secure back-to-back #SummitMTEN titles

DENVER –
 Top-seeded Denver secured its second straight Summit League Men’s Tennis Championship trophy, defeating No. 2 North Dakota 4-0 on Saturday at Denver Tennis Park. Today’s victory for the Pioneers marked the program’s seventh tournament title in the past 12 years.
   
North Dakota struck first in doubles, as Ange-Kevin Koua and Leandro Zgraggen earned a 6-2 win over Denver’s Connor Robb-Wilcox and Rikuto Yamaguchi at No. 1.
 
Denver quickly responded, with Theo Coats and Daniel Sancho Arbizu defeating Ethan Terry and Andrew Hayduke II 6-3 at No. 2.
 
The Pioneers then secured the doubles point at No. 3, as Ryoma Mishiro and Raffaello Papajcik bested Jerall Yasin and Leo Galliano 6-3 to take a 1-0 lead.
 
Denver carried that momentum into singles play, with Papajcik making a statement at No. 2 by dispatching Koua, 6-0, 6-3.
 
Yamaguchi followed with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Galliano at No. 3, extending the Pioneers' lead to 3-0.
 
The championship was sealed at No. 1, where Sancho Arbizu clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Zgraggen, securing Denver’s second consecutive title.
