MESA, ARIZ. – Summit League officials unveiled the Men’s Golf All-League Teams Friday ahead of the 2025 Championship at the Longbow Golf Course set for first-round action Sunday at 7 a.m. MST. A vote of the League’s 11 head coaches determined the all-league first and second teams, the honorable mention squad, and the all-freshman team, which is a new award for the 2025 campaign.
St. Thomas and South Dakota led all teams with three overall selections. USD senior Max Schmidtke earned a spot on first team and fellow Coyote Joe Rohlwing landed on the honorable mention team, while Jack Holtz secured a spot on the all-freshman team. Schmidtke led the Coyotes and ranked second in the league with a 72.2 stroke average during a season that featured 16 rounds at par or better and a pair of top-five finishes.
The Tommies had a pair of players claim second-team spots with repeat honoree Matthew Armstong joining Owen Rexing on that squad. Tyler McNeive rounds out the UST trio of honorees after earning a spot on the all-freshman team. Armstrong won his first collegiate tournament at the SeattleU Redhawk Invitational in early April after shooting a career-best, 54-hole total of 206 (-8).
Oral Roberts' Kevin An led the top-seeded Golden Eagles with a 73.0 stroke average and 10 rounds of par or better this season. He racked up his second all-league honor after earning an honorable mention nod last season.
Ty Kretz, the lone three-time recipient honored this year, paced South Dakota State throughout the regular season after posting the league's best stroke average at 72.0. Kretz registered a league-best 17 rounds at par or better and turned in his best finish of the season at the Jackrabbit Invitational where he took second with a 54-hole total of 213 (-3).
NDSU junior Rylin Petry earned his first career all-league honor after achieving a 73.0 stroke average and registering a league-best four top-10 finishes during the regular season.
Kansas City's Mason Haley was the lone freshman to snag a first-team honor, rounding out that five-man squad after leading the Roos with the third-best league stroke average of 72.5. He finished the regular season with three top-10 finishes and posted his low round of 66 (-6) during the third round of the Everett Buick GMC Classic back in the fall.
Joining Armstrong and Rexing on the five-member second team was the Denver tandem of Jack Dozer and Willis Panzarello along with North Dakota State’s Ian Simonich.
Panzarello sits fifth among league players with a stroke average of 72.9 and shot 10 rounds at par or better, while earning a runner-up finish at the Wexford Intercollegiate. Fellow Pio Dozer was second among DU players and 10th in the League with a 73.0 stroke average, while racking up a pair of top-10 finishes.
Rexing holds the sixth-best stroke average and led the Tommies with a 73.0 clip. He earned a top-10 finish from the season and shot six rounds at par or better.
Armstrong and Rexing assisted in delivering the Tommies' single-round team scoring record at the SeattleU Redhawk Invitational.
Simonich ended the regular season with NDSU's second-best stroke average at 73.2. The senior secured three top-10 finishes, including two top-fives and a win at the Tommie Invitational.
Joining USD's Rohlwing on the five-man honorable mention were South Dakota State's Bryson Mercier of South Dakota State, who earned the same honor a season ago, Omaha’s Nolan Johnson, Weber State’s Matthew Wilson, and Northern Colorado’s Antti Vahvaselka.
Haley and Wilson joined Holtz, McNeive and Oral Roberts' Ben Gratzl on the all-freshman team. Wilson led all rookies with three top-10 finishes and was one of just four league players to achieve that feat.
