SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, and St. Thomas were represented in the sixth Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week accolades, League officials released Tuesday. ORU’s Abraham Chelangam, and UST’s Jack Rosner took home the honors on the men’s side while USD’s Sara Reifenrath and UND’s Kenna Curry earned the honors on the women’s side.
Chelangam clocked a career-best time in the 5,000-meter at the Payton Jordan Invitational. Racing against some the nation’s best in the event, the Golden Eagle redshirt sophomore finished 12th with a time of 13:41.24. The Kapchorwa, Uganda native broke the Oral Roberts’ school record and sits second in the League rankings.
Rosner finished fifth in the decathlon at the Drake Relays with a career-best total of 7,661 points. The Tommie senior moves into second place in the League standings after his school- record shattering performance. The De Pere, Wis., native sits 11th in the NCAA after recording a time of 14.64 in the 110-meter hurdles, 4:36.93 in the 1500 meters, 48.71 in the 400 meters, 10.87 in the 100-meter dash, a distance of 135-8” in the discus, 186-4” in the javelin, 43-9.75” in the shot-put, 22-3.5” in the long jump, cleared the bar at 15-11” in the pole vault and 5-9.75” in the high jump.
Reifenrath crossed the finish line in the 400-meter with a time of 53.63 at the Drake relays. The Coyote senior placed first in the event and ranks first in the Summit League this season and 95
th in the NCAA. The Hartington, Neb., native also ran a leg of the Coyotes 4x100 and 4x400 relays that both placed sixth at the Drake Relays.
Curry claimed the hammer throw title at the Bison Open with a personal record toss of 222-3”. The Fighting Hawk graduate senior broke ther facility record of 213-8” set by Amy Phillips in 2023 and sits atop the league standings after improving her personal best by two inches.
The Elk Point, S.D., native ranks sixth in the NCAA in the hammer throw this season. Curry also finished first in the discus with a toss of 157-9”.
