Golden Eagles charge to title on final day of 2025 #SummitMGF Championship

MESA, Ariz. - Kevin An, Philip Voetmann and Christian Johnson led a third-round charge for Oral Roberts as the Golden Eagles captured the 2025 Summit League Men's Golf Championship.

It was a fitting Birthday present for ORU head coach Lance Watson, who last led the Golden Eagles to a Summit League title in 2010.

An, Voetmann and Johnson all posted final-round scores in the 60's to help ORU register a 277 (-7) to finish with a 54-hole score of 840 (-12) and four-stroke advantage over runner-up North Dakota State (844; -8).

Voetmann led the way on Tuesday with a 67 (-4) as he made six birdies on the Longbow Golf Course, while An and Johnson both carded a pair of 69's (-2).

An birdied No. 18 to land him in a three-way playoff with Denver's Willis Panzarello and South Dakota State's Tyler Seeling for the top individual spot. Those three all finished with 54-hole totals of 206 (-7).

An would make a par on the first playoff hole, using five strokes on No. 18 to claim Championship MVP honors. He is the first Golden Eagle to win the tournament since Jack Howes in 2021.

Panzarello shot a 67 (-4) and chipped in for birdie on his final hole of the day to make the playoff and earn an all-tournament team spot along with Seeling, who was the individual leader after two rounds and posted a 73 (+2) on his final loop on the par-71 layout. He also birdied his final hole in regulation to force an extra hole.

Northern Colorad's JaeSeung Na finished fourth to make the all-tournament squad as he finished two strokes out of the playoff with a 208 (-5) total. He fired a 70 (-1) in his final round.

NDSU's Rylin Petry, who was also named the Scholar of the Championship for his work in the classroom, rounded out the all-tournament team with a 54-hole total of 209 (-4).

The Bison got the low-round of the day from Jake Skarperud, who shot a 66 (-5). He finished in a five-way tie for sixth at 210 (-3) in the individual standings.

ORU's Johnson, South Dakota State's Drew Teeter and the South Dakota duo of Jack Holtz and Max Schmidtke also finished with totals of 210. Teeter led the 55-player field with 16 total birdies over the three rounds.

Schmidtke also turned in a 66 (-5) in what was his final collegiate round, while Holtz posted a 69 (-2) as the Coyotes carded the low team round of the tournament with a 273 (-11).

USD vaulted into third place, while second-round leaders SDSU finished fourth (849; -3) and Denver rounded out the top five at 856 (+4).
