North Dakota State
AUSTIN, Texas - North Dakota State University track & field athletes Merrideth Spiers, Sam Roller, and Zach McGlynn have been named to the CSC Academic All-America second team for Division I, the College Sports Communicators announced Wednesday.

This is the first Academic All-America honor of Spiers' career, and the first for the NDSU women since 2022. The Bison women have now earned 21 Academic All-America honors in track & field and cross country since the Division I transition.

Spiers (Grant City, Mo.) owns a 4.0 GPA pursuing a Ph.D. in criminal justice after earning her undergrad degree with a 4.0 majoring in psychology. She ranked 45th nationally in the weight throw for the indoor season and qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in the hammer throw outdoor.

Previously this season, Spiers was voted Academic All-League for the Summit League indoor and outdoor seasons, as well as being named the 2025 Summit League Outdoor Scholar of the Championship.

Both McGlynn and Roller were named to the Academic All-America second team. The NDSU men's track & field program has now claimed 18 Academic All-America honors since the school's Division I transition.

McGlynn (Stephen, Minn.) earned a degree in agricultural economics with a 4.0 GPA and is pursuing an MBA with a 4.0 as well. He broke the NDSU school record in the decathlon with an NCAA-qualifying 7,697 points this spring, but was forced to miss the NCAA Championships due to injury.

McGlynn also recorded marks this season that rank him fifth in NDSU outdoor history for the high jump and seventh for the pole vault.

Roller (Thompson, N.D.) recorded a 4.0 GPA to earn his degree in biological sciences. He qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, was named the NCAA Elite 90 Award winner for outdoor track & field, and won the Summit League title in the javelin this season.

South Dakota State
South Dakota State's Hunter Wallster was selected to College Sports Communicator's (CSC) Academic All-America Second Team as announced by the CSC Wednesday afternoon.

The honor recognizes student-athletes for outstanding performances in both the classroom and competition. This marks the second time Wallster has been named to the Academic All-America Second Team, as the Canadian clinched a spot on second team last year.

Wallster takes this honor following an outstanding year of competition, as he recorded two conference titles between the outdoor and indoor seasons. Wallster first won the weight throw during the Summit League Indoor Championships with a personal record mark of 68-00.50 (20.74m) before taking the hammer throw title with a throw of 200-08.00 (61.17m) at the Outdoor Conference Championships.
