SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver’s swimming duo of Gabe Jones and Samantha Synsvoll, along with the diving duo of Trip Gregory and Savanna Berry, swept the latest Summit League Kwik Star Swimming and Diving Peak Performers of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday. Jones and Gregory earned the men’s honors, while Synsvoll and Berry collected the women’s awards as the Pioneers were the first league team to garner all four awards in the same week this season.
On the men’s side, Jones and Gregory shined for the Pioneers as pair of freshmen combined for three first-place finishes in duals against Utah and BYU. Jones opened the meet with a first-place showing against BYU in the 200 fly, setting an El Pomar Natatorium record with a time of 1:47.03. The Ogden, Utah, native followed with another victory in the 200 fly against Utah, grabbing first place in 1:48.89.
Gregory claimed first place against Utah in the 3-meter dive, earning an NCAA Zone Cut. He added a second Zone Cut against BYU with a score of 309.60 in the 1-meter dive.
For the women, Synsvoll and Berry were dominant for the Pioneers in duals against New Mexico and BYU. Synsvoll picked up a pair of wins against the Lobos in the 200 free and 200 IM before adding another victory in the 200 back against the Cougars. Berry continued her strong run, sweeping both diving events against BYU and claiming first place in the 3-meter against New Mexico to earn her second straight Peak Performer of the Week honor.
