KC and DU rack up week four Kwik Star #SummitTEN honors

Roos and Pioneers each represented in this week’s peak performer awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver’s Raffaello Papajcik, Aaron Beduhn, Zoe Adkins, and Natálie Cinková along with Kansas City’s Alessandra Xibilia garnered the fourth Kwik Star Summit League Men’s and Women’s Tennis Peak Performer of the Week honors, League officials released Tuesday.

Papajcik secured the momentum changing point for the Pioneers from the No. 1 singles spot, defeating Utah’s Dante Teramo 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. His efforts gave the Pioneers their first lead of the match after being down 2-0 in the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Utah.

The England native continued to find success against Montana, defeating Tom Bittner 6-7, 6-1, 10-7. The Pioneers eventually beat the Grizzlies 6-1 as the Denver senior earned the fourth weekly singles honor of his career.

Papajcik partnered with teammate Aaron Beduhn and earned a win from the No. 3 doubles spot over Montana's Joseph Townes and Matt Upton (6-1) to garner the men’s doubles peak team of the week for the first time this season. The duo led 5-4 against Utah before the point was clinched leaving their match unfinished.

On the women’s side, Xibilia went 2-0 in singles to help Kansas City score points against Creighton and Drake. She earned her first career individual peak accolade.

Playing from the No. 2 singles, Xibilia opened the weekend with a victory over Creighton’s Ana Paula Martinez in three sets (6-3, 6-7, 6-2). The Italy native carried that momentum into her match against Drake’s Kristina Tai, winning the first Roo point of the day (6-3, 7-6) to tie the team score at 1-1.

At the No. 3 court in doubles for DU, Zoe Adkins partnered with Natálie Cinková, grabbing a win against Air Force (6-1) and Colorado State (6-2) to go perfect in doubles play and help that duo earn the women’s doubles peak team of the week award for the first time as a pair.
