SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –Kansas City and South Dakota were each represented among the season’s sixth Summit League Indoor Track and Field Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week accolades, League officials released Tuesday. KC’s Tory Lanham and USD’s Landon Olson took home the honors on the men’s side, while the South Dakota duo of Berkeley Engelland and Anna Willis secured them on the women’s side.
Lanham secured first place in the 200m, posting a winning time of 20.93 at the Missouri Invitational. The Kansas City, Mo., native tied his own personal best and Kansas City school record as well as being the only Summit League athlete to run a sub-21 second time this indoor season. The Roo junior currently sits atop the Summit League 200m rankings as well as being tied for 35th nationally this indoor season. Lanham also ran a 6.83 in the 60-meter dash to finish second in the event.
Olson placed second in the high jump competition at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational with a season-best leap of 7-1” (2.16m). His mark is tied for 21st nationally and the Coyote senior ranks second in the Summit League.
Engelland ran a personal best 2:08.12 in the 800m at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational to take second in the event. The Mitchell, S.D., native ranks 83
rd in the NCAA and sits first in the Summit League in the event. The Coyote sophomore also ran a 56.14 in the 400m to place fourth.
Willis placed third in the pole vault competition at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational with a clearance of 14-8.25” (4.48m). Her mark ranks seventh in the NCAA this season and second in the Summit League. The Colorado Springs, Colo., native ranks third all time in the South Dakota indoor record book.
