SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –Kansas City, North Dakota, South Dakota and South Dakota State were each represented among the season’s penultimate Summit League Indoor Track and Field Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week accolades, League officials released Tuesday. KC’s Tory Lanham and SDSU’s Caiden Fredrick took home the honors on the men’s side, while North Dakota’s Jadyn Keeler and South Dakota’s Anna Willis secured them on the women’s side.
Lanham recorded a new personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.85 seconds at the Tyson Invitational. The Roo junior re-established the Kansas City school record while also improving his prior conference leading mark of 20.93 seconds. The Kansas City, Mo., native is tied for 36
th nationally this indoor season. Lanham remains the only Summit League athlete to run a sub-21 second time this indoor season.
Fredrick placed first in the weight throw competition at the SDSU Indoor Classic with a toss of 67-0.5” (20.43m). The Papillion, Neb., native won the competition by nearly six feet. The Jackrabbit junior’s mark ranks 58th nationally and first in the Summit League.
Keeler ran a personal best 8:50.45 in the 3000m at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational to finish seventh in the event. The Barrie, Ontario, Canada native improved her own school record by more than 27 seconds. The Fighting Hawk senior became the first North Dakota collegian in school and state history to break the nine-minute mark in the 3000-meter. Keeler ranks 20
th in the NCAA and sits first in the Summit League in the event.
Willis placed first in the pole vault competition at the Tyson Invitational with a clearance of 15-1” (4.60m). Her mark ranks second in the NCAA this season and first in the Summit League. The Colorado Springs, Colo., native is tied for first all time in the South Dakota indoor record book.
