SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha’s Maddox Lundell and Denver’s Ryoma Mishiro, Samuel Rovai, Louise Wikander, Zoe Adkins, and Natálie Cinková garnered the fifth Kwik Star Summit League Men’s and Women’s Tennis Peak Performer of the Week honors, League officials released Tuesday.
Lundell secured the match clinching point from the No. 5 singles spot, defeating UIC’s Emil Dapcevic 6-2, 5-7, 6-2. His efforts gave the Mavericks their second win of the season. The Maverick freshmen carried that momentum into his match against Northern Illinois, defeating Iker Dellien 6-4, 6-0 to move to 4-3 on his rookie season.
Denver’s Ryoma Mishiro partnered with Samuel Rovai and earned a win from the No. 2 doubles spot over Wichita State's Amir Milushev and Alejandro Jacome (6-3) to garner the men’s doubles peak team of the week for the first time this season. The duo led 5-2 and were serving up 40-15 against Boise State before the point was clinched leaving their match unfinished.
On the women’s side, Wikander went 1-1 in No. 1 singles to help Denver score points against BYU and Utah. She earned her third individual peak performer accolade of the season.
Playing from the No. 1 singles, Wikander opened the weekend with a victory over BYU’s Gracie Levelston in three sets (6-1, 1-6, 6-3). The Sweden native carried a 5-0 record from No. 1 singles before falling to Utah’s Emma Kamper, the No. 57 ranked player in the country.
At the No. 3 court in doubles for DU, Zoe Adkins and partner Natálie Cinková were a perfect 2-0 on the week to earn their second weekly nod of the season. The duo grabbed wins against BYU (6-4) and Utah (6-3). Both of their wins leveled the doubles scoreboard to set Denver up to win the doubles points. The team has now won four straight matches and is 6-1 on the season.
