DU, OMA, USD take home week six Kwik Star #SummitTEN accolades

Pioneers, Mavericks, Coyotes each represented in this week’s peak performer awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver’s Samuel Rovai, Aaron Beduhn and Raffaello Papajcik, Omaha’s Nina Wiese and Katelynn Kock, and South Dakota’s Kayleigh Didderiens each earned the latest Kwik Star Summit League Men’s and Women’s Tennis Peak Performer of the Week honors, as released by league officials Tuesday.
 
Rovai went a perfect 2-0 on the weekend in singles play, opening with a three-set win over DePaul in a neutral-site match. The sophomore rallied for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 victory that gave Denver a 3-1 edge in the dual, which later became a 5-2 DU win. He followed with a straight-sets victory at No. 2 singles at the No. 54-ranked Northwestern Wildcats, taking the first set 6-4 before closing the match with a flawless 7-0 tiebreak in the second.
 
Pioneer teammates Beduhn and Papajcik posted a 2-0 weekend in doubles, earning matching 6-3 wins to help Denver claim the doubles point in both duals against the DePaul and at the No. 54-ranked Northwestern Wildcats. Their DePaul win was the first doubles match to finish, while the victory at Northwestern pulled DU even and set up the eventual point clincher. The freshman-senior pairing now sits at 4-1 on the season.
 
On the women’s side, Didderiens went a perfect 2-0 in singles play on the week for the Yotes. Competing at No. 4 against the No. 65-ranked Wyoming Cowgirls, she earned a decisive 6-2, 6-2 win over Eugenia Ceinos. Didderiens then moved to the No. 3 spot versus the Northern Iowa Panthers, rallying from a first-set loss to defeat Yangjiaxin Li 4-6, 6-0, 6-0 and clinch the deciding point in a 4-3 team victory.
 
Wiese and Kock partnered for Omaha in doubles, clinching the doubles point in a tiebreaker over Western Illinois. The duo defeated Mana Fawcett and Jessica Hess 7-6 (5) before topping Creighton’s Annika Elvestrom and Olivia Minikel 6-1, finishing the weekend 2-0 and posting their ninth win as a pair this spring.

  •  Duo went 2-0 on the weekend with matching 6-3 wins to help Denver win the doubles point in both duals against DePaul
  • The freshman/senior duo are now 4-1 together his season

  • Opened at the No. 4 position against No. 65-ranked Wyoming Cowgirls, earning a decisive 6–2, 6–2 victory over Eugenia Ceinos
  • Moved to 4-4 during the spring dual season
