SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The 2026 Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place this Friday and Saturday at the Frederick "Fritz" D. Pollard, Jr. Athletic Center in Grand Forks, N.D. This year’s championships will mark the second time the Fighting Hawks have hosted the event since joining the conference.
The multi-event competitions will open the action at 9:30 a.m. CT on both Friday and Saturday. Field events will start at 3 p.m. CT on Friday and 11:30 a.m. CT on Saturday, while running events will begin at 3:30 p.m. CT on Friday and 1 p.m. CT on Saturday.

Women's Front Runners
- North Dakota State is looking for a three-peat on the women’s side, after reeling off 14 straight titles from 2008-21, the Bison returned to the top of podium in 2024 and backed that up with their second straight title in 2025.
- The reigning champions were selected as the preseason favorite for the indoor crown and were one of three teams to receive at least one first-place vote. The Bison led the way in that category with five, while North Dakota, who was second in the poll, received two and South Dakota State, who followed in the third, received one.
- In the USTFCCCA rankings, three teams are headed into the championships ranked in the top 15 in the Midwest. South Dakota checks in at No. 10, while North Dakota State is No. 13 and followed by North Dakota at No. 14.
- The Coyotes’ strong pole vault presence as them ranked No. 22 nationally entering the weekend. Senior Marleen Mulla and sophomore Anna Willis are nationally ranked at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, on the 2026 indoor performance lists and two of the four Division I athletes that have cleared 15’-plus this season.
- North Dakota’s Jadyn Keeler garnered Track Championship MVP honors in 2025 and will look to defend titles in the mile, 3,000-meter run, and 5,000-meter run on her home track.
- North Dakota State’s Ella Garden also won multiple titles in 2025, capturing both the triple jump and long jump in Brookings a year ago.
- Fellow Bison Arienne Birch also has a title to defend after winning the high jump, while South Dakota’s Anna Willis rounds out a quartet of returning champions after she claimed the pole vault title in 2025.
- The League has five entries ranked inside the top 25 nationally: UND’s Jadyn Keeler (No. 20 – 3,000m; No. 14 – 5,000m) along with the USD trio of Marleen Mulla, Anna Willis (No. 2 and No. 3 – pole vault), and Delaney Smith (No. 25 – weight throw).

Men's Front Runners
- South Dakota State is looking to capture back-to-back titles for the first time in program history. The Jackrabbits’ 2025 title was their third overall and first since 2022.
- North Dakota State was selected as the preseason favorite by a slim three-point margin over the Jackrabbits. Five coaches selected the Bison, while two picked the Jacks to repeat.
- In the USTFCCCA rankings, North Dakota State was the lone men’s program to sit inside the top 15 in the Midwest heading into the championship. The Bison were slotted at No. 14 in the latest rankings.
- Nine of the 15 events from the 2025 Championship will feature a defending champion in Grand Forks with South Dakota’s Mason Sindelar and South Dakota State’s Cody Larson both looking to capture multiple titles for the second straight year.
- Sindelar won the 800-meter and broke the meet record in the mile run for the Coyotes a season ago, while Larson won the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs in meet record times, helping lead the Jackrabbits to a team title.
- Reigning Track Championship MVP Tory Lanham of Kansas City is also back after winning the 200-meter dash, placing runner-up in the 60-meter dash and helping the Roos to a silver medal in the 4x400-meter relay.
- North Dakota State has a trio of title defenders on its 2026 roster as Paul Olson looks to repeat in the heptathlon, Adam Dugger will look to do the same in the triple jump, and Brooks Turner returns look for a second straight triumph in the 60-meter hurdles.
- Rounding out the returning champions is South Dakota State’s James Pierce, who won the 400-meter a season ago.
- Oral Roberts’ Abraham Chelangam is also back competing after sitting out the 2025 indoor season – the Golden Eagle senior won 2024 Track Championship MVP honors after sweeping the three distance races in Fargo.
- The League has two entries ranked in the men’s top 25 nationally: NDSU’s Zach McGlynn (No. 6 – heptathlon) and Oral Roberts’ Jordan Wenger (No. 22 – high jump). McGlynn scored 5,975 at the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational on Jan. 30, while Wenger cleared 7’-1.75” (2.18m) at the Owen Hewitt Invite on Jan. 30.
