Bison sweep #SummitITF Championships

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – For the first time since 2021 and ninth time in school history, North Dakota State swept the 2026 Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championship trophies as the men and women earned team titles Saturday inside the Frederick "Fritz" Pollard, Jr., Athletic Center.

The NDSU men had four student-athletes claim individual championships on day two of the championships, while the program's 4x400-meter relay also claimed a title as the Bison scored 191.5 points to pull away from South Dakota (143) and South Dakota State (134.5), who finished second and third respectively. The NDSU men won their first title since 2021 and 10th overall.

On the women's side, five individuals claimed title as the Bison surged past day-one leader North Dakota to earn the program's third straight indoor crown and 15th in the last 17 years.

Top Performers
On the women's side, North Dakota's Jadyn Keeler repeated as the 5,000-meter and mile-run champion to give her three individual titles and Track Championship MVP honors for the second straight year. She helped the Fighting Hawks sweep the mile and a one-two finish in the 5,000-meter run.

NDSU's Ella Gardner finished runner-up in the triple jump to give her a pair of second-place finishes and 16 total points. Those efforts were enough to secure Field Championship MVP honors for the Bison junior.

UND freshman Katherine Rogers placed in the mile, 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs to accumulate 15 points and earn Newcomer of the Championship honors on the women's side. She took third in the mile (4:46.29) and fifth in the 5,000-meter run (16:45.88) during day-two action.

On the men's side, UND redshirt freshman Louis-Lys Fanucchi claimed Track Championship MVP honors after totaling 23 points thanks a victory in the mile run (4:05.51) and a fourth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run (14:19.69) Saturday. He added 15 points to his second-place finish in the 3,000-meter run (8:19.20) Friday.

NDSU's Zach McGlynn held a tiebreaker over teammate Kaden Pastian to claim Field Championship MVP honors after both Bison finished with 18 points. McGlynn took third in the pole vault (17-03.50"), fourth in the long jump (24-03.75"), and fifth in the high jump (6-09.50") and was nationally ranked in more events coming into the championship to earn the distinction over his teammate.

Fellow BIson Carter Rickelberg pared a fifth-place finish in the triple jump (48-06.75") with his long jump title (24-07.75") from Saturday to finish with 15 points and earn Newcomer of the Championship honors, which are given to the top-scoring true freshman in the men's and women's events.

There were six total meet records during Saturday's competition with three of those seeing the defending champion best their times and marks from last year's championship.

Paul Olson led the heptathlon throughout to win his second straight Summit League title in the event, finishing with a new meet record of 5,667 points.

The 800-meter and 5,000-meter run champions for both the men and women established new meet records. On the men's side, North Dakota State's Kaleb Foltz posted a 1:48.25 in the 800-meter run, while South Dakota's Berkeley Engelland won her final by nearly two seconds after clocking a 2:07.49.

In the 5,000-meter run, Keeler blew past her meet record from a season ago, beating the field by more than 40 seconds as she finished in 15:56.90. Oral Roberts' Abraham Chelangam did not compete in 2025, but picked up his second career title in the 5,000-meter run, turning in a meet record time of 13:49.53 to give the Golden Eagles their lone individual title of the championship.

Arienne Birch defended her title in the women's high jump, clearing a season best 5-10.75" to establish a new meet record for the Bison.
