SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota’s Ethel Li and Jule Schulte, along with Omaha’s Bryan Kuntz, Nina Wiese, and the doubles duo of Anthony Scheglowski and Liam Spiers, earned the latest Summit League Tennis Peak Performer of the Week honors, league officials announced Tuesday.
Kuntz delivered a perfect weekend for Omaha, going 3-0 in singles play while competing exclusively in the No. 1 flight. The graduate opened the stretch with a hard-fought 6-1, 5-7, 6-0 victory over Southern Miss’ Kale Mize before recording straight-set wins against New Orleans’ Jacob Rouleau-Mailly (6-3, 6-4) and Nicholls State’s Marcell Marki (6-3, 6-4).
The Omaha duo of Scheglowski and Spiers posted a 3-0 weekend at the No. 3 doubles flight, collecting wins in three matches over three days. They opened with a 7-6 (3) victory over Southern Miss’s Eric Perkowski and Saheb Sodhi, a pair that finished the fall season ranked No. 46 nationally. The tandem followed with a 6-4 win against New Orleans’s Marius Gyllerup and Jacob Rouleau-Mailly before closing the weekend with another 6-4 victory over Nicholls State’s Mateo De Los Santos and Felipe Spagnuolo.
Wiese went unbeaten over the weekend from the No. 2 singles position for Omaha. The sophomore opened with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Lindenwood’s Michelle Trochez before defeating Saint Louis’s Fiorella Duran 6-4, 6-1, clinching the match win for the Mavericks. The victory extended her singles win streak to nine matches.
Li and Schulte went 2-0 in doubles play from the No. 1 position against Division I opponents for North Dakota. The duo opened with a 6-4 win over Nicholls State before cruising to a 6-1 victory against New Orleans, helping clinch the doubles point and an eventual 4-2 team win over the Privateers.
