Mavericks sweep Kwik Star #SummitBSB weekly honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha righthander Tanner Foertsch and outfielder Hayden Lewis swept the latest Kwik Star Summit League Baseball weekly honors of the 2026 season, League officials announced Tuesday. Both players received the first weekly award of their respective careers after leading the Mavericks to a series sweep of North Dakota State.

Foertsch finished off the clean start to Summit League play for the Mavericks with the best outing of his collegiate career. The sophomore tossed seven scoreless innings and allowed just three hits in Omaha’s 2-0 victory in game three of the series.

The Elkhorn, Neb., native struck out a career-high nine batters, including striking out the side in the sixth inning, then retiring the side in order in the seventh to keep the game scoreless.

Lewis broke that scoreless tie in the bottom of the seventh with a two-out, two-run single as the Mavericks held on for the 2-0 victory to begin league play unblemished at 3-0.

The Yutan, Neb., native finished the series vs. the Bison with a .400 batting average, going 4-for-10 at the plate with a team-best six RBI. He had key run-scoring hits in all three victories as he extended his hitting streak to four straight.

In game one, Lewis tied the game at 2-2 with a RBI-single in the sixth inning of a game Omaha would win 4-2. In Saturday’s doubleheader opener, he delivered a bases-clearing double in the sixth that broke a 2-2 tie in a contest the Mavericks would win 6-2.
