SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota’s Ethel Li and Jule Schulte, along with Omaha’s Liam Spiers and Anthony Scheglowski were tabbed the latest Summit League Tennis Peak Performers of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.
Spiers went 2-0 in singles play on the week for the Mavericks, picking up a pair of straight-set victories. The graduate opened with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Creighton’s Kirtan Patel before closing with a 7-6 (4), 6-4 victory against Oral Roberts’s Luis Marcos Bonifasi. Spiers helped push Omaha to the finish line with a 4-3 team win over the Bluejays
The Omaha pair of Spiers and Scheglowski went 2-0 in doubles play on the week, helping the Mavericks secure the doubles point in both matches. They opened with a 6-4 victory over Creighton’s Rocky McKenzie and Jack McMahon to clinch the point, before adding a 6-3 win against Oral Roberts’s Cayden Cheek and Parv Nage. The pair improved to 5-1 on the season.
Li went 1-0 from the top singles spot in her lone match of the week for the Fighting Hawks. Battling back from early deficits in both sets, the senior secured a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Kansas City, clinching the team win at 4-0 as North Dakota went on to post a 5-2 victory over the Roos.
The duo of Li and Schulte secured a conference win in their lone match of the week at the No. 1 doubles position for North Dakota. The duo earned a dominant 6-1 victory over Kansas City, clinching the doubles point and playing a key role in a 5-2 team win. The pair improved to 12-3 on the season at the top doubles spot.
