OVERALL STATS | SUMMIT LEAGUE ONLY STATS

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Summit League baseball squads will wrap up March with their third series of league play but have to endure a few alterations to the schedule thanks to Mother Nature. The Northern Colorado-South Dakota State series is the only one not impacted by a cold front moving across the upper Midwest, while the North Dakota State-Oral Roberts and Omaha-St. Thomas series will now feature Saturday double headers and single games on Sunday.

The Bears are coming off a road series win at Omaha, while the Jackrabbits also picked up a series win after taking the final two games against NDSU in their first homestand of the season.

Oral Roberts finished off its second straight sweep to open Summit play and will head north for their first league road series, while NDSU is scheduled to play on its home field for the first time this season after 23 straight on the road.

The Mavericks, who are now 4-2 after a series loss to UNC that featured a pair of extra-inning games, will also head on the road for the first time in league play as the Tommies are set to host for the first time.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
• Northern Colorado’s offense put up 30 runs in a series win at Omaha that moved the Bears to 3-2 in Summit play. Through two series, UNC owns the highest batting average among Summit squads at .319.
• Five Bears had multiple hits in the 11-4 series-opening win, including shortstop Logan Pruski who paced the 14-hit attack with three singles. For Pruski, it was his third three-hit game of the campaign.
• The Bears and Mavericks split a pair of extra-inning affairs to wrap up the series with UNC taking the finale 8-7 in 10 innings to win the series.
• In game two, the teams exchanged five-run sixth innings before Maverick shortstop Chase Diggins delivered the game-winning run in the 11th with a RBI-single to lift Omaha to a 12-11 victory. Diggins finished 3-for-5 at the plate as the teams combined for 23 runs and 29 hits.
• UNC catcher Sam Pease had a career-high four hits in game two, finishing a home run shy of the cycle as he scored three times and drove in two runs.
• The Bears let a four-run lead in game three slip away in the ninth before Mason Griffin put UNC back ahead with a RBI single. Logan Borboa pitched around a walk and two hits in the bottom of the 10th to earn his first save of the season.
• Pease added three more hits in the finale, finishing the series 7-for-9 with four RBI. His four hits in game two were the most by a player in league action so far.
• South Dakota State picked up its first series win of the season, taking the final two games against North Dakota State.
• The Bison won game one 6-1 behind a strong start from Parker Puetz and a pair of home runs from outfielder Colten Becker.
• Puetz struck out seven and allowed just an earned run while scattering four hits over six innings to pick up his first win of the season. Becker hit two-run shots in the first and sixth innings to double his season total to four.
• SDSU’s Luke Luskey was named the Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week after belting three home runs and seven RBI in a 6-for-14 tally at the plate. All six of his hits went for extra-bases.
• In game two of the NDSU series, Luskey hit a pair of home runs and drove in a season-high five runs in the 13-5 victory. His RBI-double in the first opened the scoring in the series finale that SDSU delivered a mercy-rule 11-1 victory over the Bison.
• Owen Siegert, Nolan Grawe and Keagen Jirschele each had three hits for the Jacks in game three. Jirschele scored a career-high four runs in the game-two victory without recording a hit.
• Oral Roberts remained unbeaten in Summit play after sweeping St. Thomas in a three-game set in Tulsa. Easton Teel led the Golden Eagles to a 4-0 victory in game one as the righthander tossed 6.2 scoreless innings and struck out a career-high nine Tommies. Teel would earn the Kwik Star weekly pitching nod for his efforts.
• Weston Rouse earned the win in relief, finishing out the combined shutout with four strikeouts in 2.1 innings. The Golden Eagles’ pitching staff surrendered only five runs over the three-game series.
• ORU’s offense came to life in the seventh of game, producing all four runs as Keaton Campbell got things going with a two-run single to left field.
• First baseman Wailele Kane-Yates and outfielder Tyler Brodrick both homered in the 8-2 victory in game two as the bullpen game through with four scoreless frames, including three from Jackson Farrell. He struck out six and earned his second win of the season.
• Kane-Yates added a grand slam and drove in five during the 11-3 sweep-clinching win. He now shares the RBI lead in Summit play at eight with his teammate Brodrick.
