DU, UND, OMA, USD take latest Kwik Star #SummitTEN weekly awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver’s Ryoma Mishiro and Samuel Rovai, North Dakota’s Leo Galliano, Omaha’s Nina Wiese and Katelynn Kock, and South Dakota’s Selena Bird have been named the latest Summit League Tennis Peak Performers of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.

Galliano went 1-0 in a single-match week from the No. 1 singles position for North Dakota. He earned a straight-sets 6-2, 7-5 victory over Drake, holding off a second-set rally to secure the win. The sophomore’s result proved pivotal in a tight 4-3 team victory, while extending his perfect 14-0 record from the top singles spot.

Mishiro and Rovai went 2-0 for Denver in doubles play on the week, earning a 6-4 win at Cal Poly to clinch the doubles point before adding a 6-2 victory at Gonzaga. The duo’s win at Gonzaga was the first doubles result for DU and helped set the tone for another doubles point, while the 6-2 decision marked their second fewest games lost in a match this dual season.

Bird went 2-0 at the No. 1 singles position for South Dakota, earning wins over North Dakota and Kansas City. The Miami, Fla., native swept all four sets on the week to post a 4-0 mark in conference play, improving to 6-4 at the top spot.

Wiese and Kock continued their strong spring with a 2-0 showing in doubles for Omaha. The duo earned matching 6-3 wins over St. Thomas’s Emilia Korseth and Caroline Lindahl and Oral Roberts’s Cecilia Franzin and Ava Goodell, clinching the doubles point in both matches. The pair improved to 17-2 on the spring and moved into a tie for fourth in single-season doubles wins in program history.
