SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver’s Ryoma Mishiro, Samuel Rovai and Louise Wikander, Omaha’s Liam Spiers, and North Dakota’s Ethel Li and Jule Schulte have been named the latest Summit League Tennis Peak Performers of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.
Spiers earned a straight-sets victory from the No. 1 singles spot for Omaha, defeating Drake’s Christian Winstead 6-2, 7-5. The graduate’s win helped the Mavericks secure a 4-3 team victory, marking their second league win of the season.
Mishiro and Rovai posted a 2-0 record in doubles on the weekend for Denver, extending their winning streak to seven matches. The duo opened with a 6-2 victory over North Dakota to clinch Denver’s eighth straight doubles point before adding a 7-6 (4) win against Nevada that leveled the doubles scoreboard.
Wikander went 2-0 at the No. 1 singles position for Denver, dropping just three combined games against league opponents. The senior opened with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Oral Roberts before adding a 6-1, 6-0 victory against North Dakota. She recorded the first singles win in both duals, helping set the tone for 7-0 and 6-1 team victories.
Li and Schulte collected a win in North Dakota’s lone match of the week, competing at the No. 1 doubles spot for North Dakota. The duo earned a 6-4 victory over Denver, improving to 14-3 on the season, with all 14 wins coming from the top position.
