Two more #SummitOTF records fall on Day 2 of the Championships

FARGO, N.D. -- North Dakota maintained its lead in the women's team standings, while North Dakota State surged ahead on the men's side after day two of the 2026 #SummitOTF Championships at the Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex.

The host Bison also made up ground on the women's side, securing three individual titles on the day but the defending champions were only able to trim two points off the Fighting Hawks' lead. UND, who saw Jadyn Keeler pick up another event title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, now have 107 points and lead the Bison by 28 points. St. Thomas is third with 30 points.

On the men's side, victories by Zach McGlynn in the decathlon and Brady Goss in the 3,000-meter steeplechase along with a two-three-four finish in the shot put pushed NDSU into the team lead. The Bison will take a 15-point lead over South Dakota, who got an individual title from Brandon Vander Sluis in the shot put to keep things close going into the final day.

North Dakota State's Yolanda Nabwe captured the heptathlon title after winning the long jump (19-00.50"; 5.85m) and javelin (151-01"; 46.06m) on the second day of the event. Her javelin mark put her eighth on NDSU's all-time list and was a personal best by more than 30 feet. She also posted personal bests in the 200-meter dash, 800-meter run and long jump en route to finishing with 5,308 points, which is the fifth-highest total in program history. Nabwe was joined on the podium by North Dakota's Eucabeth Kivikangas (5,085 points) and NDSU's Paige Halder (4,886 points).

It was another Bison that captured the decathlon title as McGlynn cruised to a victory with a meet-record, NDSU-program record and facility record total of 7,922 points. After winning the long jump and high jump on day one, the Bison senior won the pole vault and 1,500-meter run (4:45.53) on day two and was runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles (14.70) and discus (128-11"; 39.31m). His point total is the fourth highest among NCAA Division I decathletes this season.

Oral Roberts' Jordan Wenger defended his high jump title from 2025 by being the first competitor to clear the winning height of 6-11.50" (2.12m). Wenger's Golden Eagle teammate, Woedem Vasmark-Voegborlo, cleared the height on his second attempt to finish runner-up and post a personal best. South Dakota's Landon Olson made the height on his final attempt to claim third as the top three finishers all topped last year's winning mark by a half-inch.

NDSU's Arienne Birch became the third Summit League jumper to claim three straight high jump titles as she cleared 5-09.75" (1.77m) on her second attempt to best the field by four inches. North Dakota's Anya Willaims surpassed the 5-05.75" (1.67m) mark on her first attempt to finish second. She was part of a four-jumper pack that all made that height to give the Fighting Hawks eight points.

NDSU's Adison Kapitzke edged her teammate Riley Quinn by four inches to claim the shot put title. Kapitzke tallied her season best and winning toss of 49-09" (15.16m) on her third attempt, while Quinn established the early lead with a throw of 49-05" (15.06m) to give the Bison a one-two finish in the event.

South Dakota's Brandon Vander Sluis outdistanced NDSU's Kaden Pastian in the shot put to take gold in that event. Vander Sluis' third attempt of 62-01.25" (18.93m) edged Pastian, who made his final attempt count with a mark of 61-09" (18.82m), but fell just short of the Coyote throwers' winning mark. Pastian led a trio of Bison that finished second, third and fourth in the event.

North Dakota's Shane Zierden leaped a personal best 25-02" (7.67m) on his first attempt of the day and that mark held up as he won the long jump competition for the Fighting Hawks. North Dakota State's Carter Reckelberg leaped into second on his sixth and final attempt with a mark of 24-06.25" (7.47m).South Dakota's Bennett Schwenn took third with a season-best mark of 24-04.75" (7.43m).

It was her fifth career outdoor title. Her time was also a new personal best and facility record for Keeler.

In the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, NDSU's Goss held off a late charge from North Dakota's Louis-Lys Fanucchi to win the title in 9:13.96, just under a half-second faster than the runner-up.
