SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –South Dakota's Akari Hayashi and Oral Roberts' Brandon Hoff were named the Summit League's October TicketSmarter Peak Golfers of the Month, league officials announced Tuesday.
Hayashi posted a pair of top-10 finishes, including a runner-up finish at the Ozarks National Invitational as the Coyotes wrapped up their fall season with a team title. She made 10 birdies and finished the 54-hole event tied for first with a career-best score of 218 (+2), but ended up in second due to a tiebreaker.
The Victoria, British Columbia native tied for sixth at the Terrier Intercollegiate where she carded three consecutive rounds of 74 (+2) to post a 222 total. She made nine birdies in that 54-hole event, which was top five among the field.
Hoff won two of the three events he played in during October, leading the Golden Eagles to a pair of top-three team finishes. His first victory came at The Clerico where he fired a 36-hole total of 137 (-5) and won the playoff to secure an exemption to compete in the Compliance Solutions Championship next Summer. The event is one of the newest on the Korn Ferry Tour, which is one step below the PGA Tour.
The Austin, Texas, native closed out the month sharing medalist honors at the Bear Brawl in Waco, Texas. The Baylor transfer returned to his former residence, posting scores of 68 (-2) and 70 (E) to close out the fall. He led the field in par-four scoring at -4.
