SDSU's Honner, UST's VanArragon collect October TicketSmarter Peak Golfer of the Month honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –South Dakota State's Luke Honner and St. Thomas' Kathryn VanArragon were selected as the Summit League's October TicketSmarter Peak Golfers of the Month, league officials announced Friday.

Honner posted a pair of top-20 finishes in October, tying for 17th to open the month at the Badger Invitational before claiming runner-up finishes at the Throw Down Up Top to close out his fall season.

Honner posted par of better score in five of six rounds during October, including two in the 60's. He opened the Badger Invitational with a 68 (-3) en route to a 214 (+1) total at the TPC Wisconsin in Madison.

At the Throw Down Up Top event hosted by South Dakota, the Sioux Falls native fired three scores under par, including an opening-round 69 (-4) at the par-73 layout at the Landmand Golf Club in Homer, Neb. He followed with rounds of 70 (-3) and 71 (-2) to finish with a 210 (-9) total to finish one stroke off the pace of medalist Shaun Campbell of Creighton.

VanArragon put together a solid fall for the Tommies and in even more impressive October as she finished runner-up at the Big O Classic, taking second among a 69-player field, and won the Tommie Invitational to claim her first collegiate victory.

The Tommie freshman opened the Big O Classic with a even-par score of 73 and finished with a 149 (+3) total, which was just two shots off the pace of classmate Nicole Reineke, who claimed medalist honors.

At the Tommie Invitational, the Blaine, Minn., native fired three rounds of par of better to claim a 12-stroke victory. She opened with an even-par 72, then fired consecutive one-under par scores of 71 at the Minnesota Golf Club to lead St. Thomas to the team title.

  • Won the Tommie Invitational by 12 strokes, carding all three rounds at par or better en route to a 54-hole total of 214 (-2)
  • This is the first career Summit League monthly honor for VanArragon
