SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Oral Roberts’ Lydia Swan along with South Dakota State’s Ty Kretz and Omaha’s Connor Wilson garnered the latest TicketSmarter #SummitGF Peak Golfer of the Week accolades, League officials announced Thursday. Swan picked up a runner-up finish at ORU’s Spring Invite to claim the female honor, while Kretz and Wilson both captured medalist honors at their respective events last week to share the male honor.
Swan turned in the best tournament of her young collegiate career, tying for second at the Golden Eagles’ home event with a career best 54-hole total of 213 (-3). The North East, Pa., native posted three rounds of par or better, including a career-best 70 (-2) in the second round at The Club at Indian Springs.
Swan made 39 pars and nine birdies and shared the 76-play field lead in par-5 scoring at -4. Her efforts helped the Golden Eagles to a second-place finish. She is the fourth different ORU golfer to earn a TicketSmarter weekly or monthly honor this season joining Sarah Bell (October), Malene Arildsen (March 9) and Kate Strickland (March 23).
Kretz and Wilson both captured medalist honors with impressive outings at the Duel at the Bluffs and the Stampede at the Creek, respectively.
Kretz blistered the Bluffs Course in Vermillion, firing an SDSU 36-hole scoring record of 131 (-13) to edge South Dakota’s Nick LaMotte (132; -12) for medalist honors. Kretz opened the event by tying the SDSU single-round record with a 65 (-7), then was just one shot off that in his second loop later that afternoon, posting a 66 (-6) to secure the individual title.
Wilson earned his second weekly honor of the season after winning Omaha’s home event with a 54-hole total of 208 (-8). The Arkansas State transfer set a Mavericks’ single-round scoring record with a 64 (-8) when he made nine birdies during his second loop around the Indian Creek Golf Course.
Wilson opened the event with a 69 (-3) and was able to hold on for a two-stroke victory becoming the first Maverick to win the Stampede at the Creek. He led the 54-hole player field with 16 birdies.
