SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State sophomore Bryson Mercier and Denver graduate student Anna Zanusso claimed the latest TicketSmarter #SummitGF Female and Male Peak Golfer of the Week accolades, respectively, League officials announced Monday. Mercier was honored for the first time in his career, while Zanusso earned her seventh career honor and second of the spring season.
Mercier won the Jackrabbit Invitational by shooting a 54-hole total of 211 (-5). He won by two strokes over a trio of golfers that included fellow Summit League golfer Brandon McGarry of North Dakota.
The Powers, Mich., native also led SDSU to the team title after he racked up a field-best 14 birdies throughout the tournament. He opened and closed with a 70 (-2), while shooting another under-par round of 71 (-1) on his second loop around the Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Zanusso finished seventh at the rain-shortened Julie Inkster Invitational, carding a 36-hole total of 141 (-3). She opened the event with an even-par 72 before firing a 69 (-3) in her second round that featured five birdies.
The top-10 finish was the third of the season for Zanusso, who now has 13 rounds of par or better over six tournaments during the season.
