SELLERSBURG, Ind. – Kansas City pulled away from the pack to secure its second straight team title and fourth overall at the 2024 Summit League Men's Golf Championship. The Roos closed out the 54-hole event with a final round score of 271 (-17) to finish with a tournament record 833 (-31) total.
Sophomore Mesa Falleur captured Championship MVP honors after matching the low round of the day with 67 (-5) in his final loop around the Covered Bridge Golf Club. Kansas City, under the guidance of J.W. VanDenBorn, set the team scoring mark and became the first team since Denver (2021-22) to claim back-to-back titles.
Falleur’s closing round 67 gave him a 205 (-11) total, which was enough to secure his first collegiate victory by three strokes over runner-up Presten Richardson of Oral Roberts, who closed with a 71 (-1). Falleur finished four strokes ahead of a group of six golfers, which included teammates Lucas Dutarte and Max Cooper, that tied for third with 209 totals (-7), respectively.
South Dakota State’s Luke Honner carded a final-round 67 (-5) to pace the Jackrabbits to a runner-up finish in the team standings with an 840 (-24). The Golden Eagles finished in third place with a three-round total of 848 (-16).
Rounding out the all-tournament team efforts were Honner, North Dakota State’s Ian Simonich, St. Thomas’ Owen Rexing and South Dakota’s Nick Lamotte, who all finished in the six-way tie for third.
The Roos will found out their NCAA Regional destination Wednesday when the Selection Show airs live at 1 p.m. CT on the Golf Channel with a stream available online at www.GolfChannel.com.
