SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Summit League officials released the 2024 Outdoor Track and Field Most Outstanding Performers of the Championship and the 120 All-Summit League team recipients Wednesday. North Dakota State’s Nell Graham earned the Most Outstanding Performer of the Championship for the women while North Dakota’s Luke Labatte secured the award on the men’s side. For Graham, the 2024 Summit League Indoor Track and Field Most Outstanding Performer, this marks back-to-back outdoor honors and a first career honor for Labatte.
The defending heptathlon champion Graham capture her gold medal with a career-best point total of 5,265 points. En route to the top spot on the podium, Graham secured top-three finishes in four of the seven events. On the opening day of the championships, she was the top finisher in the 200 meter after clocking a career-best time of 23.92 seconds and took third in the high jump (5-04.25; 1.63m). On the second day, she was runner-up in the javelin with a toss of 120-08 (37.22m) and the second in the 800m with a time of 2:23.38.
During the final day of competition, Graham earned a silver medal in the 400m (53.10) and a bronze medal in the 200m (23.94). She also ran a leg of the 4x400m relay team that finished second on the podium with a time of 3:43.48. Because of her performances throughout the championships, she collected 26 points for the Bison.
Labatte earned his way onto the podium twice during the championships. On the second day of competition, he earned back-to-back men’s 3,000m steeplechase titles. The UND senior captured his gold medal after crossing the finish line in a time of 8:50.89. On the last day, he took third overall in the 5,000m finishing the race in a time of 14:29.10.
The Most Outstanding Performer of the Championship is determined by a vote of the participating head coaches and is based upon the student-athletes’ performance during the Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships.
To receive the All-Summit League accolade a student-athlete must finish in the top three in an event category at the league championship meet.
