Women's Basketball - October 23

South Dakota State’s Myah Selland recognized as NCAA Woman of the Year Top 30 honoree

Jackrabbit women’s basketball alum Myah Selland was named an NCAA Woman of the Year Top 30 honoree. Selland, a 2023 graduate, was twice named the Summit League Player of the Year in her career. The four-year team captain is the only player in program history to rank in the top five in career points (second), rebounds (fourth) and assists (fifth). A three-time second team College Sports Communicators Academic All-American, Selland won the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup in 2023 for her character, teamwork and citizenship, and she was named the 2023 Summit League Daktronics Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

North Dakota’s Kacie Borowicz posts triple-double in 100-75 win over Omaha

North Dakota guard Kacie Borowicz became the third player in UND history to register a triple-double after scoring 20 points, pulling down a career-high 12 rebounds and dishing out a season-high 10 assists in a 25-point victory over Omaha.

Men’s & Women's Swimming & Diving - February 24

Denver men collect 10th #SummitSD title, women capture 11th straight

The Pioneer men’s team captured its 10th title in the last 11 Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships with a team score of 868 points. For the 11th consecutive year, it's the Denver women's team stood atop the podium. The Pioneer women won the title with a team score of 980 points.

Denver’s Morsy shines once again, Maeda dominates League championships

Denver's Zyad Morsy captured his second straight diver of the year nod, winning the Summit League Diving Championship MVP after placing first in the 1-meter (343.30) and 3-meter (379.75). Jessica Maeda, the Women's Swimmer of the Year, contributed to five victories during the 2024 Summit League Swimming & Diving Championships and was named an All-Summit League honoree in six events after guiding the Pioneers to its 11th straight #SummitSD women's title.

Men's Basketball - January 25

Denver's Tommy Bruner, South Dakota’s Kaleb Stewart go toe-to-toe in double OT thriller

The top two single-game scoring performances of the 2023-24 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball season occurred on the same night and in the same gym by a pair of Summit League standouts. Denver fifth-year guard Tommy Bruner poured in a career-high 49 points in leading the Pioneers to the thrilling 111-110 double-overtime victory over South Dakota. Bruner’s exploits were nearly matched by South Dakota’s Kaleb Stewart, who led the Coyotes with a career-high 44 points. The two combined for 31 field goals, including 13 3-pointers in one of the most entertaining games of the DI season.

Indoor Track & Field - February 27

Three athletes punch tickets to compete on the NCAA’s biggest stage

The Summit League had three athletes, two vaulters from South Dakota (Marleen Mülla and Marshall Faurot) and a thrower from North Dakota (Kenna Curry), compete at the 2024 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships. Mülla qualified for the third-straight year and fifth-year senior Faurot made his first appearance at the national indoor meet. Curry became just the third UND athlete to qualify for the DI national meet.

South Dakota State goes undefeated in regular season

It was déjà vu for South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits ran the table in the regular season once again to become the first team in Summit League history to finish off back-to-back unblemished regular seasons. It marks the third time South Dakota State finished a regular season unbeaten since joining the Summit League and is only the fifth team to achieve that feat.

South Dakota State captures regular season title outright

South Dakota State ended up with a two-game advantage in the final standings, helping secure the program’s ninth Summit League title in the last 11 seasons. The Jackrabbits were led by Summit League Player of the Year Zeke Mayo, who 21.1 ppg against Summit foes.

Coyotes’ Marshall Faurot earns first team All-America honors

South Dakota’s Marshall Faurot placed eighth at the NCAA Championships in the pole vault. He cleared 17-8.50 (5.40m) to garner his first career All-America accolades and became the first Coyote on the men's side to garner first team honors since 2021.

Men’s Basketball - March 11

No. 7 Denver pulls off second upset to reach first final in program history

Denver ended a 19-year drought where a No. 7 seed had not advanced to the title game of the Summit League Men's Basketball Tournament. The Pioneers achieved the rare feat thanks to a 66-63 victory over No. 6 Omaha. The win secured Denver's first appearance in the Summit League Tournament title game.

South Dakota State crowned #SummitWBB Tournament Champions

No. 1 South Dakota State used a game-sealing 14-0 run late in the fourth quarter to secure its second straight Summit League Women's Basketball Tournament and post a 67-54 victory over No. 2 North Dakota State at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The victory gave the Jackrabbits their 11th title in program history, which is the most by any Summit League team.

South Dakota State hoists #SummitMBB Championship trophy

No. 1 South Dakota State fended off a late charge from No. 7 Denver to capture the Summit League Men's Basketball Tournament with a 76-68 victory over the Pioneers at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The win earned SDSU its second title in the past three seasons.

Men’s Basketball - March 30

South Dakota State’s Zeke Mayo named finalist for Lou Henson award

Jackrabbit junior guard Zeke Mayo was selected as a finalist for the 2023-24 Lou Henson National Player of the Year award. The Lawrence, Kan., native averaged 21.1 ppg and made a Summit League-best 42 3-pointers in conference play to earn All-League First Team honors for the second consecutive season. He averaged 22.0 ppg as the Jacks closed out the regular season with five straight wins. Mayo also helped lead the Jackrabbits to their second NCAA tournament appearance in three seasons.

Men’s Basketball - April 8

Denver’s Tommy Bruner finishes second nationally in scoring

Pioneer fifth-year guard Tommy Bruner finished second nationally in scoring during the 2023-24 season. The Columbia, SC, native averaged 24.0 ppg, 4.2 apg and 2.8 rpg throughout the season and was named to the All-Summit League first team. In addition to leading the country in scoring, Bruner led the Summit League in assists per game and helped the Pioneers to their first ever Summit League Championship title game.
