NDSU's Hoven, USD's Schmidtke earn #SummitGF Peak Golfer of the Week honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State senior Elise Hoven and South Dakota graduate student Max Schmidtke earned the latest #SummitGF Peak Golfer of the Week awards, league officials announced Thursday. Hoven claimed the first honor of her career, while Schmidtke netted his second honor in three weeks and third of his career.

Hoven turned in a career-best performance at the Eagle Invitational hosted by Eastern Washington in Worley, Idaho. In an event shortened to 36 holes due to inclement weather, the Grafton, Wis., native posted back-to-back rounds of 70 to shoot a 140 (-4) and share fourth place.

Hoven’s efforts helped the Bison take second in the 13-team field as NDSU finished just one stroke behind Cal-State Northridge.

Schmidtke continued his strong fall by sharing fourth at the Zach Johnson Invitational hosted by Drake. The Sheboygan, Wis., native posted a 54-hole total of 213 (-3), which included an ace in his opening round.

Schmidtke also turned a 69 (-2) and closed with a 70 (-1) to record his second top-five finish of the fall. He finished the tournament with an eagle and 11 birdies.
