SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State juniors Madi Hicks and Rylin Petry garnered thefirst #SummitGF Peak Golfer of the Week accolades, League officials announced Thursday. Both golfers earned the first weekly awards of their respective careers as Hicks earned the female honor and Petry claimed the male honor.
Hicks shared medalist honors at the season-opening NDSU Invitational on the Bison's home course. She fired a career-best 148 (+4), closing with a 70 (-2) to move up five spots into a first-place tie with teammate Elise Hoven.
It marked the second consecutive year Hicks won NDSU's home event.
Petry led the Bison to a runner-up team finish at the Red Bandanna Invitational. He followed up an opening-round 76 (+2) with a pair of rounds at even par or better to secure a tie for sixth in the 63-player field.
The Fertile, Minn., native made three birdies and closed with a 71 (-1), which matched his career-best at the Division I level. The top-10 finish was also the first of his career.
